SUMMER PROGRAM

August 17-21, 2026
Monday-Friday, 8:30am -12:30pm

This one-week choral/arts program will engage children, age 6 -12, with teenage mentors and Teacher Assistants , in five mornings full of singing, dancing, theatrics, and art projects. Activities are based at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Gloucester, with a field day at Stage Fort Park, and a final public presentation at SJC on Friday.

PARTICIPANTS - ages 6-12: This program includes 5 mornings of professional instruction and performance opportunities, music & art materials, healthy snacks , art workshops, introduction to special guests, a Field Day at Stage Fort Park, and the challenge/thrill/ comaradery of a final performance on Friday. Because the program is highly collaborative and sequential, we strongly encourage children to attend all 5 mornings. Payments can be made (1) online using the tuition button below, (2) by Venmo to @capeannartsalive, or (3) with a personal check mailed to Cape Ann Arts Alive, 9 Norwood Ave, Rockport MA 01966. MIDDLE SCHOOL MENTORS (age 13-14, not yet in High School) A Mentors’ creative input and participation is welcome/expected in all aspects of the program.  They will be assigned specific duties helping with supplies, snacks, and modeling cooperative, enthusiastic participation. They will be asked to attend a staff planning meeting (TBD) prior to Monday, Aug. 17th, and to arrive about10 minutes early each morning.They will gain valuable mentoring /community service experience, a professional letter of recommendation, and a $50 discount on Tuition ($125. instead of full tuition, $175.

Anyone interested in becoming a Middle School Mentor (age 13-14, before High School) must fill out the MENTOR/TEACHER ASSISTANT Registration Form below, IN ADDITION TOthe Online Registration Form , which must be filled out by a parent or guardian.

TEACHER ASSISTANTS H.S. students who have completed 9th grade) TA’s creative input and participation are expected in all aspects of the program. Each TA will partner with an adult instructor in teaching/managing a small group, as well as all large group activities. We need them to:

1.Attend two planning meetings with Instructors prior to Aug.17 (TBD) in order to be ready for the fast-paced week ahead!

 2. Be in attendance each day Aug. 7-21, M-F, 8:10-12:45. Arrive at 8:10 allows TA’s to review plans for the day with instructors, and to assist in set-up before kids arrive. Dismissal at 12:45 after kids leave at 12:30 allows TA’s to join staff for a quick debriefing and clean-up, including Friday, after the final performance. They will receive a ($250) stipend for their time and service and a professional letter of recommendation. TA’s need to submit the Middle School Mentor/Teacher Assistant Registration form as well as the Online Registration Form ( NOTE: Teacher Assistant positions are filled for 2026)

CAAA Summer Program

A one-week arts program for children ages 6-12, full of singing, dancing, theatrics, art projects and local excursions that reflect the multifaceted story of Cape Ann, with a culminating performance on the final day.
